MULTIPLE CHIEF VERO TANGBOWEI EMMANUEL CHALLENGES CONTROVERSIAL WARD ALLOCATION FORMULA, CALLS ON PRESIDENT TINUBU AND GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI TO TAKE URGENT ACTION


Warri South-West, Delta State — Multiple Chief Vero Tangbowei Emmanuel the Eye-la-ere of Ijaw Nation has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oboroworo to critically examine the ward allocation structure in Warri South-West Local Government Area, describing the current arrangement of 11 to ijaw and 9 to Itsekiri as unfair and capable of creating tension among the Ijaw people.


Speaking to news men during the recently concluded Ijaw and Urhobo Stakeholders' Press Briefing held at KFT Place, multiple Chief Vero expressed concern over what she described as an imbalance in the distribution of political wards among the kingdoms in the area.


According to her, four kingdoms ( namely Gbaramatu Kingdom, Isaba Kingdom, Igba-ijob kingdom and Deyebire kingdom, were allocated a total of 11 wards, while a single kingdom was allocated nine wards, a development he questioned as lacking fairness and equity.


"Why should four kingdoms have 11 wards while one kingdom has nine wards? What kind of sharing formula is that?" She asked.


Mr President remember you are a titled man in Ijaw kingdom, you have a titled in Gbaramatu Kingdom called the Eyela-wei of Gbaramatu kingdom and I am the Eyela-ere of ijaw nation, please try and use your position to bring fairness to our kingdoms.


2027 election is coming, please make us happy so we the women of ijaw nation especially warri South West will work with you and your wife to bring the needed victory.


Multiple Chief Vero further called on the, Governor of Delta state, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide clear explanations regarding the basis for the ward allocation and urged relevant authorities to address the issue before it escalates.


She warned that failure to review the arrangement could lead to internal disagreements and crisis among the Ijaw communities of Warri South-West Local Government Area and lead the women to go back to the flow station to seek for justice.


Please arranged a meeting to meet with the women of ijaw nation and discuss this issue she pleaded. 


The remarks formed part of the resolutions and concerns presented during the stakeholders' meeting, where participants appealed to President Tinubu and other relevant authorities to ensure justice, fairness, and equitable representation for all communities affected by the ward delineation exercise before it full implementation.
